In the 8th instant I had the
honor to present a petition to His
Excellency The Acting Governor from
members of the Jury on whose finding
the prisoner J. W. Thompson late Master
of the Lorcha Centaur is detained in
custody. I then expressed to His Excellency
an opinion that the contradiction existing between the verdict of the Jury and
the prayer of the Petition was reconcileable on
